Their search for validation as scientific disciplines has led to the adoption of hegemonic paradigms, generating a tension between the need to study social reality and the incorporation of approaches that recognize the complexity and diversity of human experiences. In the case of Social Work, this translates into a practice that is often subordinated to dominant norms. This limits the ability to generate knowledge that reflects the realities of minorities and the particularities of each context. Therefore, the discussion about plural rationalities, divergent thinking, and epistemological pluralism presents an opportunity to re-contextualize the generation of scientific knowledge in the field of Social Work. This article argues around the importance of fostering plural rationalities, divergent thinking, and epistemological pluralism in Social Work, not only to enrich its disciplinary ethos but to transform its professional practice. A historical and conceptual review of these notions was conducted, enabling exploration of how to incorporate different forms of knowledge to achieve a more inclusive and critical practice.http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Ethos of Social WorkDivergent ThinkingEpistemological PluralismPlural RationalitiesKnowledge ProductionMultiplicidad de racionalidades y pensamiento divergente: hacia un pluralismo epistemológico del Trabajo SocialArticulohttps://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v28n2.120884
