At the same time, with the increase in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), people have been able to benefit from them, including the elderly. This age group is characterized by conditions linked to aging that can affect the use of ICTs. Determining how usable a software system is is essential for its success. It is necessary to assess usability by applying evaluation techniques, such as thinking aloud. However, applying these techniques to the participation of the elderly is challenging. The present research aims to identify studies in the literature that report adaptations made to these usability evaluation techniques, considering the particularities of the elderly (e.g., cognitive limitations). We searched five databases (Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, Wiley Online Library, and ACM digital library) from 2014 to 2024. As a result of the search, we did not find any studies that made adaptations to usability evaluation techniques. However, we identified a need to adapt usability evaluation techniques considering the characteristics of older adults. In addition, we propose some adaptations for a group of techniques, considering some of the limitations of older adults. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.restrictedAccessADAPTATION OF TECHNIQUESELDERLYHUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTIONSYSTEMATIC MAPPING STUDYUSABILITY EVALUATIONGROUPWAREADAPTATION OF TECHNIQUECOMPUTER INTERACTIONE-STUDIOINFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIESOLDER ADULTSSYSTEMATIC MAPPING STUDIESUSABILITY EVALUATION TECHNIQUEUSABILITY TECHNIQUESUSABILITY ENGINEERINGLack of Studies on Adaptations of Usability Techniques for Older Adults: A Systematic Mapping Study and Its Implications; Ausencia de Estudios sobre Adaptaciones de Técnicas de Usabilidad para Adultos Mayores: Un Estudio de Mapeo Sistemático y sus ImplicacionesConference paperhttps://doi.org/10.54808/CICIC2025.01.135
