Explore the impact of using the moulage technique in simulations for learning wound assessment. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Exploratory qualitative study with an action research design and cross-sectional practical approach, using a sample of 12 students in the context of an elective academic subject. The field work was carried out through simulation scenarios with chronic wounds recreated with moulage, in which the students performed a nursing assessment. Data collection was obtained through focus groups. RESULTS. The results were analyzed with the Atlas.ti software, which initially yielded a total of 17 codes associated with 293 quotes (verbatims). Subsequently, the codes were organized into categories and subcategories in which one corresponds to the a priori category, and three to emerging categories. CONCLUSIONS. The teaching methodology that uses simulation with wound moulage turned out to be highly beneficial and was perceived positively by students learning wound assessment. © 2024, Escuela de Enfermeria Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.
