The soil structure condition of two areas with established plantations of artichoke ( Cynara scolymus L.) and alfalfa ( Medicago sativa L.) was described using the Cultural Profile methodology. Soil management of the crops included the application of organo-mineral fertilizers and irrigation. The results show that under the conditions of the artichoke crop, the root system was vigorous and intertwined with the soil, which creates a very favorable condition for the entry and conservation of water to the soil. The progressive cover of alfalfa allowed the establishment of a macrofauna and symbiotically associated microorganisms ( Rhizobium meliloti), forming nodules on the roots, which produced a favorable development of the alfalfa and an evident regeneration of the structure.PDFroot systembiomasssoil recoveryEffects of management and establishment of two plant species on the structure of a saline soilArtÃculohttp://dx.doi.org/
