Abstract
Older adults (OAs) constitute a rapidly growing age group in today's population, posing a global challenge that impacts the economy and public health. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of a muscle strengthening program at 60% of 1RM on gait and dynamic balance tests in OAs. Eleven OAs participated in a muscle strengthening program. The program lasted 8 weeks, with 3 weekly 45-minute sessions of 3 sets of 6-8 repetitions and 2 minutes and 30 seconds of rest between sets. As a result of the training program, significant increases were observed in strength assessments, as well as in the 6-minute walk test and a significant decrease in the time taken to stand up and leave.
