The present study discusses the South American epistemologies, from the perspective of the deconstruction of environmental educational thinking and sustainability. Highlighting the figures of critical thinking, of the university as an academic space, and the citizen function, which together allow establishing sociocultural and educational relationships within the university and supported by principles: responsibility, prevention, efficiency, gradualness, participation. Which must be reflected in the design, execution and evaluation of the actions that are developed for the incorporation of the University as a sustainable and indispensable means. Requiring for this a methodological sequence that includes: diagnosis, analysis of the philosophy, Strategic Analysis, Construction of lines and strategic objectives, and elaboration of an action plan. So that the enjoyment of an adequate quality of life for the population can be reconsidered while new rational logics are built and established around the environment.
