his research focuses on creating, designing and implementing a postgraduate training program for the development of professional teaching competences at University of Atacama (UDA). Based on the educational competency profile elaborated for the UDA, it assess and evaluates the professional teaching competences and the design of the learning situation that enhance its development. This profile consists of 4 groups of competences: teachers, research, university extension and personal; as well as a total of 14 sub-competencies and 59 competency units. The principles guiding the design, implementation and evaluation of the program in its contribution for the development of teachers' professional competences and the methodology used were discussed.
